Why we postponned BON Awards - Organisers

The Best of Nollywood Awards, earlier slated to hold this weekend, would now hold Thursday, December 5th. This latest postponement, according to the Executive Producer, Seun Oloketuyi, is at the behest of the Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, who is the host of this year’s edition.
He said, “It is not in our character to postpone the awards’ date, however, after consulting with our various stakeholders which includes of course, the nominees, we all unanimously agreed that it would be better to have a glamorous and memorable event on a later date than go ahead with the earlier publicised date and end up with something less worthy.”

Oloketuyi said further that since Governor Uduaghan’s commitment to host the BON 2013 awards in Asaba, the Delta State capital, “It is only expedient to ensure that the award holds on a day that he would be physically present. Governor Uduaghan is committed to several, equally pressing state matters and he has promised to personally attend and welcome movie stars, producers, directors and the media to Asaba. He has promised us a very exciting time and on our part as the organisers, we will leave no stone unturned nor spare any cost to ensure this edition, more than ever, is better than any previous edition.”
In spite of this date change, Oloketuyi declared that all other details concerning the awards remain intact. “Nothing has changed about our preparations to ensure that all the stars and stakeholders of Nollywood coming to Asaba for BON have a wonderful and exciting time. We have packed so much fun activities into the schedule that many of the guests would not want to go back home,” he boasted.
Meanwhile, apart from the 32 awards up for grabs, veteran thespians, Pete Edochie and Lanre Hassan popularly known as Iya Awero, would be honoured with the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan Special Recognition Award while the Delta State Commissioner for Tourism and renowned actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, would be hosting his colleagues, guests and the media to a sumptuous lunch on their arrival in Asaba.
