The Federal Government has promised that the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities will be over soon.
Making the promise on Wednesday after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting was the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, who said government was putting its all into resolving the face-off with the university lecturers.
Make told newsmen that government was not unmindful of the impact of the strike, which is entering the fourth week, on both parents and students.
He said this was why the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu, and the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyat Rufai, have been fully involved in the negotiations with ASUU over its demand that the government fulfils its 2009 agreement with the union.

Stella Damasus ex husband threatens her with court case

It seems the troubles in the lives of beautiful Nollywood actress, Stella Damasus, with regards to marriage are still very much with her.
What I gather is that Stella Damasus is not yet divorced from her second husband, Mr Emeka Nzeribe before she secretly married Doris Simeon's husband, Daniel Ademiroka
As a result, Emeka Nzeribe is said to have commenced a process of suing Stella for going ahead to marry and live with another man (Doris Simeon's husband) while they are still married, legally.
If Emeka Nzeribe make good his threat to sue Stella, this will sure compound the problems of the actress who was highly criticized on the social media recently by her fans who said she lack the moral right to insult Senators over under-age marriage, since she is not also laying a good foundation for other ladies.Source: Olufamous

Police questions Ibinabo

Impeached National PRO of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) is determined not to sit down and take his impeachment with a pinch of salt. During the week, he involved the police in a aim of seeking to “protect himself from attacks by the AGN”. Acting on Frank's report at the Area C police station, Surulere, Lagos, Ibinabo was invited by the police for questioning.  The fair in complexion actress, did responded to the summon.
After getting her side of the story, the police let her go a few minutes later.

Kris Okotie defeats INEC in court

THE Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday  voided the de-registration of  political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The judgment was sequel to a suit filed by Hope Democratic Party and its presidential candidate in the 2011 general elections, Rev. Christopher Okotie.

The plaintiffs had through their counsel, Fred Agbaje  asked for a declaration that section 78 (7) (ii) of the Electoral Act, 2010 is unconstitutional, invalid, null and void to the extent that it offends the provisions of section 40 and  221-229 of the 1999 Constitution.

The plaintiffs also asked the court to make a declaration that INEC cannot deregister the party except in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.

They further asked the court to declare that the purported reliance on section 78 (7) (ii) of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended, by INEC in deregistering FDP without first hearing the political party violated the provisions of sections 36, 38 and 40, as well as sections 221-222 of the 1999 Constitution, and paragraph 15 of the 3rd schedule (part 10 of the Constitution) among others.

Revealed: tricks vulcanisers use to cheat you

It seems that the unwritten rule among vulcanizers is that any car driven into their workshop or makeshift tent must have its tyres inflated, no matter the level of pressure in the tyres! In this way, the owner of the vehicle is made to cough out some money.
The experiences of many motorists in show that most vulcanizers give different readings of tyre pressure.
For example, after the first vulcanizer has said that your tyre is over- inflated, another one reads it as under-inflated. Then a third vulcanizer will commend your decision to check the tyre pressure as any further delay could have been suicidal.
“What some of these guys do is that they don’t even read the pressure at all. They fix the gauge and, in a twinkle of an eye, they shout, ‘No air.’
“The truth is that the pressure may be okay. But, they feel that admitting it may deny them the opportunity to make extra money. So they will tell you that there is no air.

“They pretend to inflate the pressure and turn around to reduce it and collect money from you,” Mr. Okoli Udeh, who operates a commercial vehicle in the city, says.
Experts have warned motorists not to inflate their tyres beyond 40psi or 280kpa. As if to buttress this, the report posted on tyresafe.org says, “Don’t inflate your tyres above 40 psi or 280 kpa. By keeping them at their optimum pressure, your running costs are also reduced. Under-inflated tyres require a bigger force to make them turn, so your car uses more fuel. Additionally, tyres that are not set to their correct pressure wear out more quickly.”

Let’s face it. Tecno was one of the first companies that brought ‘affordable Android smartphones’ to Africa, but they are not the first, nor the best. Their debut ‘Android’ phone, Tecno N3 may have sold millions of units in Nigeria alone, wowed many users who probably are using Android phones for the first time, but hey believe it or not, Tecno N3 is one of the worst Android phones ever sold. The chocolate city woes

Sometime ago, when one of Nigeria’s leading music house, Mohit Records, broke up, many people wondered how it happened, as all appeared just perfect before the collapse. Presently, another top record label is set to experience what Mohit suffered, as the talk is that Audu Maikori’s Chocolate City is undergoing the biggest challenge it has witnessed. The issue is the decision of one of the label’s popular name, Brymo, to dump the label. Brymo walked out on Chocolate City after it became obvious that the label was focusing its promotion on only Ice Prince and MIIt was the same drama that led to Jessie Jags walking out on the label, some months ago, complaining that his career as an artiste was suffering because he was being used mainly as a producer, contrary to the agreement.
