Dangote workers on rampage: Protest conditions

Workers of Dangote Cement, Apapa, Lagos State are right now protesting the disengagement of their colleagues and the shabby treatment meted to them by the management of the company.

The workers are at present at the entrance of the head office of the Dangote Group in Ikoyi, Lagos.
They are reported to have blocked the entrance into the premises of the company.
It was learnt that the protest started in Apapa earlier today.
The workers had blocked the entrances to the sugar and flour factories of the group before proceeding to the head office.
The grouse of the workers was that hundreds of them who were sacked have been shabbily treated.
Most of them, who have put in over 10 years of service are being paid between N150,000 and N250,000 as terminal benefits.
One of them told The Eagle Online: "Dangote is like a slave camp.
"How do you sack hundreds of workers who have put in over 10 years into the service of the company and then the company is paying you just N150,000 as terminal benefit?
"What are we to do with that?"
