Davido repentant for flaunting his wealth

That David Adeleke is a certified silverspoon is not in doubt. He asserts as much in his very popular single, Dami Duro. And not a few know that his father, Deji Adeleke, is a multi billionaire businessman. That the yet-to-debut singer-producer is also one of the most sought- after artistes at the moment with high fee paying engagements across Nigeria and beyond is not in doubt. In fact, he recently inked a N30m naira deal with telecommunications company, MTN, as the face of its new lifestyle offering, MTN Pulse.

Out of sheer exuberance or in exultation to God for how far he has come in such a short while in the industry, Davido posted a tweet on Tuesday, saying, “Great meeting, made a little change,” and backed it up with the picture of a N10m cheque issued in his name.

He would regret the move later as his fans and followers descended on him, calling him childish and insensitive. Some others urged him on, saying he deserved whatever freebies come his way. He would later apologise for the tweet. “I’m sorry to those that are offended by the picture. I never knew God would take me this far and I got a little carried away. Una own sef go come.”

A little while ago, Davido almost came short of the loyalty and love of his fans as one of his posse tweeted that he just spent a whooping N2m on a gold necklace in Dubai. The onslaught on his extravagance was unprecedented, and then this.
