The media launch of the United 3
Championship tagged “Exclusive Celebrity Edition” witnessed spectacular display
of football artistry from the two opposing teams of the Rib Shakers FC (The
Comedians) and the Pen Headers FC (The Sports Journalists) team at the Koga
Entertainment Studio, Oregun-Alausa, Lagos.
Held Tuesday April 24, 2012, The Rib
Shakers FC made up of Tee A, Gbenga Adeyinka, Bash, D-Don, Seeco and Georgewill
while ace sports journalists; Toyin Ibitoye, Bimbo Adeola, Jide Alabi, Cecelia
Omorogbe, Mike Maiyaki, Bada Johnson, Biola Kazeem, Temisan made up the Pen
Headers FC.
The Rib Shakers FC won the game after a
penalty shoot-out, with brilliant performance by the team captain Tee A, who
eventually won the golden boot.
Dr. Rafiu Ladipo, President General,
Nigeria Football and Sports Supporters’ Club Association World-Wide was present
at the launch and also presented the winners trophy to Tee A, captain of the
Rib Shakers FC. Also present were ex-Nigerian internationals like Peter Rufai,
Nduka Ugbade, Dosu Joseph and Emmanuel Amunike who stood in as Technical Advisers
of the two teams that played at the exclusive celeb edition.
According to the event organizers, “the success
of the maiden edition has to do with Abelinis resourceful team that consists of
Biodun Oshinibosi, the Project Marshal, Kayode Tijani, the content director,
Gbenga Oketade and Deji Orunkoyi as project co-ordinators, and Kanbi Owolabi,
the media consultant”.
The unique interactive quiz format football
tournament powered by Abelinis Limited, a project intelligent company is originally
a fans game of three where three individuals who are football lovers can form a
team to participate and trade tackles on wit, speed and knowledge of the
football industry as a whole to score goals.
The event organizers further disclosed that
the United 3 Championship TV game is a unique platform conceived for the development
of local leagues in and out of the continent of Africa, apart from Nigeria
where it started from.
Interestingly, since the debut edition, there
has been discussion from different production outfits in Europe to facilitate
the kick off of the unique TV game show in their arena as the organizers also said
that there are great opportunities for fans in Europe to tackle fans in Africa
as the game progresses.
